As you have followed my spring and summer articles in the newsletter, my theme has been using gardening as a focal point, so now that we are in the fall, harvest, season I will focus on the season of preserving, canning, and restoring. Like all that comes with gardening we are looking to end results and the benefits that come from our effort and labors. The same is true for Options for Women-River Falls.
Throughout the summer planting, watering and, weeding and now harvesting, we are prepared for a new introduction of students at UWRF and the return of the high schools.
Student Tours: During the late winter and early spring, we welcomed several groups of high school and college students for tours of our clinic. These tours provided an opportunity for students to learn more about how our clinic operates, the services and support we offer to our clients, and the important role our ultrasound services play in supporting women and their babies.
As part of the tour, students were able to visit the ultrasound room and observe an ultrasound with a live model. Seeing the baby and hearing the heartbeat firsthand gave students a meaningful experiences and helped them better understand the impact of the services we provide.
Client Education: With the transformation of our conference room into a classroom, we have been able to offer educational classes for our clients throughout the summer. These classes are led by our nurses and trained client advocates and cover a variety of topics designed to support women and families throughout pregnancy and parenting.
Although we are just getting started, we look forward to expanding our class offerings as the need grows. Upcoming topics will include childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, and other areas of interest to our clients. We encourage anyone interested in learning more to join us for these informative classes.
UWRF: As students return to campus, we are excited to continue supporting the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Students for Life Club. Throughout the school year, we will partner with the club through tabling twice a month, as well as by supporting and sponsoring events. We encourage anyone interested to attend
Rachel’s Vineyard: This is a meaningful weekend retreat for women and men who have experienced abortion or facilitated someone getting an abortion. The retreat provides a safe and confidential environment for those who may be struggling with the emotional or spiritual effects. Through a guided process of reflection, healing, and prayer, participants are given an opportunity to seek God’s mercy, forgiveness, and compassion. It’s a powerful weekend focused on finding hope for those who may be carrying pain from a past abortion.
(Editor note: I attended a retreat to experience and understand the process and I can attest the grace and forgiveness that was provided).
