Meet Maria
Maria* is a Spanish speaking client who is currently experiencing a highly distressing situation. She is 12 weeks pregnant and recently learned that her husband is being deported. Understandably, this has left Maria feeling overwhelmed, heartbroken, and uncertain about her future.
Maria came in last week to start our Earn While You Learn program. This program offers a large number of courses that a client can go through with a client advocate and then shop for needed items in our baby boutique. Classes range from pregnancy, parenting, life skills, healthy relationships and personal growth. It is a wonderful opportunity to help clients like Maria grow as a person, provide life saving resources for her pre-born baby, and show them the love of Jesus Christ.
In addition to her pregnancy, Maria is caring for their 8-year-old daughter and is deeply afraid of raising the new baby on her own. The emotional and mental strain she is under is significant. Maria shared that she is feeling lost, and unsure of what steps to take next. She has no emotional support and has been a stay-at-home mom since her 8-year-old daughter was born. She now must look for a job in order to provide for her and her daughter. Maria’s husband was the breadwinner and emotional support for them.
So many of our clients are in tough situations with no safety net. Your prayers, compassion and support are often the deciding factor between life and death for their child. Your support matters to Maria and her entire family.
