This time of year, greetings commonly include some comments on the Spring weather. Yes, the warmer temperatures, sunshine, and budding plants are indeed blessings. However, I much prefer to wish you a very joyful Easter than simply “Happy Spring.” Easter is more about joy, hope, and new life than is any other change of season. Living in a post-Christ time, when we know how the story ends, means that we can truly step into each day with the confidence that comes from His presence.
Here at Options for Women / River Falls, we feel very blessed to have that confidence. With your help, we are “part of the solution” – to bring help, hope, and His love to women and families who are struggling. A popular saying says, “There, by the grace of God, go I.” Because of our own new life in God’s grace, we are strengthened to answer His call to share that life with others – a call that is even more urgent for the times in which we live. Rather than despair or fear the challenge of the world around us, we embrace Easter grace as we remember that “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5) As my own father would say: “We are in the light business.”
It is working! I recently heard a professional pro-choice representative make the comment, “Every year, providing abortions and reproductive health care gets harder.” Thank God that the life-giving grace of Christ’s Resurrection is winning!
