The complexity of the abortion debate goes beyond today’s ideological clashes, from ancient pagan culture, to modern day societal shifts. Understanding the broader context of the abortion debate is critical in our comprehension of the ongoing battle for life.
Historical Context and Global Impact
The roots of abortion are ancient. Satanic human sacrifices by the Aztecs and Canaanites included the killing of infants to appease their gods. “During the sacrificial process, the Canaanites would light a fire inside or around the statue [Molech] to heat up the statue as hot as they could. Then they would place their newborns into the red-hot arms of Molech and watch the children sizzle to death. During this gruesome event, the Canaanites would play flutes and bang on drums to drown out the sound of their shrieking children.”1 These sacrifices were a foreshadowing of the full-term abortions being performed in our current culture.
